Beware of those infected with “politicking virus”, Hadi says

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang today warned Malaysians against politicians who are busy jostling for power and positions while the country is suffering from the COVID-19 crisis.

“These people are addicted to power. They don’t care that there is a plague ravaging the nation and infecting people on a daily basis,” he said in his party publication, HarakahDaily.

Last week, top Umno leaders had a meeting at bungalow in Jalan Bellamy. It was said that the group was opposed to party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s decision to pull support from the Perikatan Nasional Government.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yassin is under pressure to reconvene the Parliament soon, with the Conference of Rulers also suggesting the Government to reopen the august house.

Last year, Umno finalised a resolution to pull support from the Perikatan coalition in the next general election.

Citing lessons from other countries, Hadi said that in the US, ex-president Donald Trump’s lust for power resulted in its Congress building being mobbed by his supporters earlier this year.

“The US is said to be the most advanced democracy in the world but Trump refused to accept his electoral defeat.

“Using his wealth and support from the Jewish lobby which controls the country’s media, Trump rallied his supporters to breach the Congress building. This resulted in lives lost and the devastation from it is still felt until today.

“In Mali, its military overthrew the elected Government. The same happened in Egypt where its lawfully elected president was jailed and died under custody,” he stated.

It is to note that only right-wing media in the US mouthed Trump’s claims over electoral fraud, such as Fox News and Newsmax. Other media outlets duly recognised Joe Biden’s win in the 2020 presidential election, in contrary to Hadi’s remark.

Targetting Pakatan Harapan, Hadi said that the coalition won the last general election using lies and false promises, supported by paid cybertroopers until voters were conned into believing them.

He also alleged that Pakatan brought in liberal ideas into the administration when in power, which did not sync with the population at large.

“Worse, they dared to challenge Islam’s position under the Federal Constitution and challenged the role of our monarchs.

“The communists, who were crueler that our colonisers, were given adulation. The lesbian, gay, bisexual and transexual (LGBT) community started asking for equal rights and some in Pakatan supported them.

“But Pakatan fell from power after some of its leaders repented and decided to save our country,” he added.

The Special Envoy to the Middle East then urged the Pakatan leaders to accept the fact that they have lost power and stop behaving like they were still in charge.

“Wait for the next general election to start playing politics again. I urge the public not to fall for their lies ever again.

“And please don’t drag our Rulers into politics as Their Majesties have more pressing matters to handle right now,” the Marang MP remarked. – July 5, 2021.
