Video released overnight shows new airstrikes being carried out, which White House officials say were targeting Iran-backed militias and two facilities behind drone attacks on US troops in Iraq.
ABC News was told that the airstrike was meant to send ‘a very clear and direct message to Iran and any militia groups that there will be serious consequences if US forces continue to be threatened or attacked’.
