Bintai Kinden eyes more medical devices distributorship agreement

BINTAI Kinden Corp Bhd is going all out to enhance its position as a leading distributor of medical devices and healthcare solutions in Malaysia.

With more distributorships coming in the pipeline, the group foresees even further upside potential for its subsidiary Bintai Healthcare Sdn Bhd, according to Bintai Kinden’s deputy CEO Azri Azerai.

Bintai Healthcare has been appointed as a non-exclusive distributor for hemodialyser manufactured by Scientillence Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.

To formalise the appointment, Bintai Healthcare had today inked a distribution agreement with Scientillence for the distribution of the latter’s products in the private and commercial sector such as non-governmental organisations.

Scientillence is owned by Pantai Holdings Bhd’s chairman and ex-CEO Tan Sri Lim Tong Yong.

“The appointment will further enhance Bintai Healthcare’s position as a leading distributor of medical devices as well as widen its range of products and services in Malaysia,” Azri pointed out.

“To add to this, we are also excited about a few more opportunities in the pipeline that we are working hard on and we hope to deliver more good news in the near future.”

The sole manufacturer of dialyser (artificial kidney) in Malaysia as well as Southeast Asia, Scientillence has obtained the quality management system accreditation for its manufacturing business and various certifications for its products.

Scientillence is also in the registration process for CE (Conformite European) and the first “halal” certified manufacturer of dialyser in the world.

Currently, Scientillence’s products are exported mainly to China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Lebanon and most of the Southeast Asia countries.

Under the one year distribution agreement, Scientillence will provide all necessary technical support and services in relation to the marketing and selling of the products.

Bintai Healthcare is registered with the Medical Device Authority as an authorised representative, distributor and importer of medical devices in Malaysia.

Bintai Kinden, which specialises in mechanical and electrical engineering services, has in August last year announced its venture into the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines.

Towards this end, Bintai Healthcare was granted the exclusive rights from Generex Biotechnology Corp and its subsidiary NuGenerex Immuno-Oncology Inc to distribute, sell and commercialise COVID-19 vaccines in Malaysia, Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

At the close of today’s mid-day trading, Bintai Kinden was up 1 sen or 2.33% to 44 sen with 42.59 million shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM168 mil. – Oct 20, 2021
