BN and PH in Perak could ensure two-thirds majority and counter PAS ‘green wave’: Nga

PERAK DAP has pledged full support for BN candidates in the upcoming GE16, alongside efforts to secure victory for PH candidates across the state.

Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming said UMNO’s decision to continue its cooperation with PH marks a positive step for the stability and strength of the Unity Government heading into the polls.

“When BN and PH unite in Perak, not only can we govern effectively, but we are confident of winning with a two-thirds majority,” Nga said.

“I am very grateful to have been informed by Datuk Sham Mat Sahat that the Perak UMNO Liaison Committee unanimously agreed to continue cooperating with PH for GE16. That is why the entire DAP machinery must work tirelessly, close ranks, and operate as one team to ensure not only PH candidates win, but also BN candidates succeed in this blessed land,” he said in his speech at the 23rd Perak DAP Annual Convention held at a hotel on Sunday.

Nga urged DAP grassroots machinery to strengthen cooperation, work as one team, and prepare early for GE16, stressing that unity and visibility on the ground are crucial.

He also called on the PH-BN alliance to stop the spread of PAS’s so-called “green wave,” saying states under PAS rule such as Kelantan and Terengganu remain economically backward with high poverty and unemployment.

“We can see that states governed by PAS, such as Kelantan and Terengganu, are still lagging behind in terms of economic development, with high poverty and unemployment rates,” he said.

“Therefore, it is our responsibility to ensure that the green wave does not take root in Perak. We must ensure that Unity Government candidates regain their parliamentary seats in the districts of Kerian, Parit Buntar, Alor Pongsu, and across northern Perak,” he concluded. —Oct 5, 2025
