“Bossku, Our National Pride” event by Makkal Sakti party draws public ire

IT seems that while most people are trying to steer clear of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak following his graft conviction, several political parties are still going gaga over him.

The latest group who are seemingly very much into the Bossku movement is the Barisan Nasional (BN)-friendly party, the Malaysia Makkal Sakti Party (MMSP).

Its party president Datuk RS Thanenthiran held a get-together with Najib yesterday afternoon at the Tanjung Lounge, located at the PWTC.

But what drew netizens ire and ridicule was the tagline for the event, which says “Bossku, Our National Pride.”

“Ok so I did some googling. Makkal Sakti means ‘Power of The People’ in Tamil. The 1st party to use this name is from India, with the objective of fighting corruption.

“In Malaysia the namesake *aligns* themselves with the corrupted. So only in name,” said user YBrs Shamsul Kamal.

User Vimileswari Naidu shared a caption in response to it which says:

Netizen Lambda responded to Shamsul saying:

(What is this uncle? This is going to ruin our weekend).

Last month, the Court of Appeal upheld Najib’s graft conviction in a unanimous decision over the SRC International funds worth RM42 mil.

In his verdict, lead judge Datuk Abdul Karim Abdul Jalil dismissed arguments by the ex-premier’s defence team who argued that the latter had acted for the sake of “national interest”.

“There is no ‘national interest’ here. Only ‘national embarrassment’,” he remarked.

Shameful

On that note, user One Time criticised MMSP, saying it was upsetting that a political party could go all out to support a convicted felon for the sake of political expediency.

Netizen Sandy Laxm remarked: “All that associate with #TheConvictedFelon are unfortunately equally corrupt!
