RESIDENTS of Mutiara Damansara are voicing concerns over broken tiles at the Mutiara Damansara MRT station that have remained unrepaired for several years.
A local resident, who first noticed the issue at 18 and is now 25, highlighted the ongoing neglect and suggested that a simple solution, such as leveling the tiles with cement, could address the problem.
The deteriorating condition has raised safety concerns, with potential accidents looming if left unaddressed.
There have been numerous discussions on X about the lack of pedestrian facilities in Kuala Lumpur.
Additionally, some users are complaining about the poor maintenance of existing facilities.
One user noted that MRT Mutiara Damansara has broken tiles that have allegedly been left unrepaired for several years.
For the past year, there have been several complaints from pedestrians that have been sidelined.
A viral post back in April showed a car being parked right on top of a sidewalk in Hospital Kuala Lumpur, which would bring major inconvenience to a pedestrian walking.
Following that, accessibility for sidewalks is another issue. There are some mass transit stations that would have their entire access to pedestrians blocked for the most part.
If someone were to cross the street while walking on one, they would be unable to, as a fence would cover it up.
Some suggest this measure prevents cars from parking on sidewalks and deters pedestrians from jaywalking. Netizens were shocked to see the sidewalk completely blocked at a road-crossing junction.
Next, some drivers may wait directly on these crossing junctions at a red light, which is highly inconvenient for pedestrians.
Many agree that it is still a long way for pedestrians in Kuala Lumpur, at the very least, to enjoy walking towards their destination rather than driving and finding parking constantly. —Nov 23, 2024
