Budget 2021 tabling, parliament sessions postponed – Dewan Rakyat speaker

PARLIAMENT has delayed the tabling of Budget 2021 from Oct 2 to Nov 6 at 4 pm, Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff bin Md Yusof said in a statement today.

This is because the third session of Parliament for the year has been postponed from October and will commence for 27 days from Nov 2 to Dec 15, he added.

The tabling of the 12th Malaysia Plan has also been postponed from Aug 6 to a date yet to be determined by the government, he said.

According to the speaker, the government decided on the postponement because of the Covid-19 outbreak which has affected the country’s economy and hence, the government needs to study further on dealing with this, as well as for further interaction with the stakeholders involved.

The Dewan Rakyat’s second session, where the King’s Address to Parliament will be debated as well as the tabling of Bills and other government matters, will be over 25 days from July 13 to Aug 27.

The Third Session is consequently postponed to Nov 2 – Dec 15, which will see Budget 2021 being tabled. – June 12, 2020
