BUKIT Aman’s Classified Crime Investigation Unit (USJT) will conduct an investigation into PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang’s claims that there are attempts by the opposition to topple the government.
Sentul district police chief ACP Beh Eng Lai said yesterday that police received reports from Amanah and Selangor PKR youth at the Dang Wangi police headquarters.
“The case will be investigated by Bukit Aman’s Classified Crime Investigation Unit,” he said briefly at a press conference when asked about the case’s development.
According to The Star, reports were lodged in response to Hadi’s claim that Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition was plotting to topple the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim-led unity government.
Hadi further claimed that it is entirely within the Opposition’s right to try and topple the unity government, adding that they have the right to plan and that nobody can stop them from making such plans.
According to Hadi, there were already some hints of cracks in the unity government and several component parties within the unity government were already showing signs of unhappiness.
“This is happening now and it is not something impossible,” he added.
When quizzed if the efforts to topple the federal government went against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s advice to not create instability, Hadi pointed out that the country upholds the Constitution and practises democracy.
Last Friday (March 3), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had told Hadi off for saying that the unity government would collapse before the end of its term.
“It’s fine, it’s his right to plan and dream,” Anwar told reporters briefly after performing Friday prayers at the Universiti Putra Malaysia mosque. – March 9, 2023
