Bursa Malaysia ends lower amid profit taking

Bursa Malaysia closed lower today amid profit-taking in selected banking and telecommunications heavyweights, despite improved market breadth driven by renewed buying interest in small-cap technology stocks.

The benchmark index opened 1.46 points higher at 1,623.31, marking its intraday high, and subsequently hit a low of 1,614.34 during the mid-afternoon session.

Market breadth was positive as gainers outpaced losers 645 to 441, while 520 counters were unchanged, 1,155 untraded, and 10 suspended.

Turnover rose to 2.81 billion units valued at RM2.57 billion compared with yesterday’s 2.63 billion units valued at RM2.64 billion.
