Bursa Malaysia ends lower as higher US yields, oil prices weight on sentiment

BURSA Malaysia ended lower today in tandem with weaker regional markets, failing to track Wall Street’s rally as elevated US Treasury yields and renewed gains in crude oil weighed on sentiment.

At 5 pm, the FBM KLCI eased 21.57 points to 1,611.78 from Tuesday’s close of 1,633.35.

The benchmark index opened 0.19 of a point higher at 1,633.54, marking its intraday high, and hit a low of 1,610.55 in the late afternoon session.

On the broader market, losers surpassed gainers 663 to 492, while 508 counters were unchanged, 1,127 untraded and 13 suspended.

Turnover decreased to 3.83 bil units worth RM3.52 bil, compared with 4.18 bil units worth RM2.95 bil yesterday.—Oct 7, 2026
