Bursa Malaysia remains in positive territory at mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia remained in positive territory at mid-afternoon, thanks to continuous buying in selected index-linked counters.

At 3.09 pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 11.93 points to 1,448.69 from 1,436.76 at Friday’s close.

Market breadth was positive, with gainers leading losers 559 to 386, while 367 counters were unchanged, 583 untraded and 24 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 4.97 billion units worth RM3.23 bil.

Hartalega and Top Glove continued to lead gains in the heavyweights, gaining 84 sen to RM10.84 and RM1.04 to RM12.86, respectively. Both stocks contributed a combined 10.22 points to the rise in the composite index.

Other heavyweights, IHH added one sen to RM5.44, Petronas Chemicals gained 22 sen to RM6.12, while Public Bank was flat at RM15.26.

Maybank and Tenaga lost four sen each to RM7.39 and RM12.16, respectively.

Of the most actives, Key Alliance perked one sen to 8.5 sen, GD Express bagged six sen to 66 sen, Sanichi gained three sen to nine sen, while Velesto and Sapura Energy were flat at 16 sen and 10 sen, respectively.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index was 104.18 points higher at 10,281.31, the FBMT 100 Index earned 102.56 points to 10,127.88 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index garnered 196.61 points to 11,816.95.

The FBM ACE increased 127.82 points to 5,515.61 and the FBM 70 chalked up 208.47 points to 12,903.63.

Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index added 2.07 points to 126.46, the Plantation Index edged up 72.04 points to 6,794.89, while the Financial Services Index trimmed 39.72 points to 12,342.01. – May 27, 2020, Bernama
