Bus Cap appoints entrepreneur Teoh Keng Chang to its board to strengthen new energy mobility segment

BUS Cap Bhd, Malaysia’s first pure-play bus builder listed on Bursa Malaysia’s ACE Market, has made Teoh Keng Chang its non-independent non-executive director effective today (July 28).

The 34-year-old chartered accountant has stood out as an entrepreneur and strategic investor with extensive experience across capital markets, business transformation and cross-border investments.

He brings senior leadership experience spanning corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), fund-raising, private equity investments and listed-company investments across both public and private companies.

Teoh has further as developed business and investment exposure across automotive and mobility solutions, electric vehicles (EVs), new energy commercial vehicles, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), data infrastructure and related high-growth sectors.

In the EV and new energy commercial vehicle sphere, he has originated and spearheaded strategic engagements with established China-based industry players with a focus on bringing international manufacturing capabilities and commercial vehicle technologies into Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian market.

Teoh’s appointment supports Bus Cap’s post-listing growth strategy as the group evaluates opportunities beyond its traditional bus-building foundation, including new energy commercial vehicles, fleet-related solutions, lifecycle services and technology-enabled mobility opportunities.

‘Teoh’s appointment brings valuable strategic investment, business development and capital markets perspective to our board as the group enters its next phase of post-listing growth,” commented Bus Cap’s executive director Bernard Ng Chong Yan.

“While bus-building remains the foundation of the group, we see opportunities to expand into new energy commercial vehicles, fleet-related solutions and lifecycle services.”

Among others, Bus Cap foresees prospect in forging strategic partnerships and technology-led tie-ups within the EV and smart mobility space.

“Board-level discipline and commercial judgment are important. Teoh’s experience in business transformation, cross-border investments and strategic opportunity origination is expected to support the group’s long-term growth strategy and shareholder value creation,” added Ng.

As it is, the group’s core operating foundation remains its robust bus-building business, encompassing the design and manufacture of bus bodies, assembly of bus bodies with chassis sourced from principals and the provision of repair and maintenance services.

Bus Cap currently serves a highly diversified client base, including transport service operators, travel companies, vehicle dealers and government agencies across Malaysia and Singapore.

At the close of today’s (July 28) market trading, Bus Cap was up 1 sen or 3.64% to 28.5 sen with 5.74 million shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM109 mil. – July 28, 2026
