IT IS factually wrong for the present chairman of the Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) RSN Rayer to say that he objected to the dismissal of the board’s former executive director M. Ramachandran on Jan 13 this year.
In an interview with Free Malaysia Today (FMT) on Dec 20, Rayer said Ramachandran was aware of his objections to his removal. This was the reason why he asked Ramachandran not to enforce the court order.
But the PHEB Board meeting on Jan 12 attended by 11 commissioners including Rayer unanimously agreed to the dismissal of Ramachandran.
The Jelutong MP who was present in the meeting never objected to Ramachandran’s dismissal nor did he raise objections in the following board meeting.
On Aug, Ramachandran was awarded damages and costs amounting to over RM100,000 for his unfair dismissal.
Recently, he sought court order to enforce the earlier High Court decision on the PHEB. The PHEB might have informed Ramachandran not to enforce the decision of the High Court.
If this is the case, why did Ramachandran sought a court order to enforce the decision. There must be some something amiss.
Rayer might have wanted to placate Ramachandran by saying that he objected to his dismissal.
Anyway, the PHEB might have an emergency meeting tomorrow (Dec 24) to decide on the court ordered payment. – Dec 23, 2023
