Can PH sell the new BN with a younger-looking Zahid to its voter base?

ON Twitter, Malaysians are sharing their observations about the unusual sight of Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) collaborating closely these days.

They highlighted the stark contrast to the past few decades when the two parties were fierce adversaries, and now they appear to be the best of friends.

However, the question on many people’s lips is how PH will sell the BN image to its voter base. Things do not look great for the coalition on paper. There is still confusion among the leadership of the PH.

For example, Amanah communications director Khalid Abdul Samad said UMNO members who find it difficult to cast votes for election candidates from former rival DAP in next month’s state elections should abstain from voting.

Khalid got into trouble with UMNO members after he said former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak should not be pardoned by the King. Now, he seems to be ordering UMNO voters around.

The other problem in the PH-BN coalition is getting PH voters to support UMNO candidates. But not everything is lost for PH. Its top cybertroopers on social media networks seem to have accepted the alliance with BN.

Behind them, there are Twitter users who have also settled down to accept the coalition and the unity government.
