FORMER prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak mocked a billboard put up by the Selangor state government in relation to the money it has spent to fund welfare schemes for the people.
In the billboard depicting Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, it was stated that the state government had spent RM1.3 bil for its Iltizam Selangor Penyayang programme.
The problem came about when the breakdown was given over the spending; where it was noted that RM415 mil was spend for the Selangor Prihatin packages and another RM627 mil was spent for the Kita Selangor schemes.
The amount noted did not match the RM1.3 bil mentioned; short of RM258 mil.
“Who did the billboard for the Pakatan Harapan-led state government. Was it our former Drama Minister (Lim Guan Eng)?
“RM415 plus RM627 mil equals to RM1.3 bil? Where did the balance RM258 mil go?” the Pekan MP queried.
It is to note that the Federal Court has fixed Aug 15 to 26 this year to hear Najib’s final bid to overturn his 12-year jail sentence and RM210 mil fine after the High Court found him guilty misappropriating RM42 mil from SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
The Court of Appeal had upheld the High Court’s decision last year and referred to the former UMNO president as a “national embarrassment”. – July 8, 2022
