The only Malaysian film to play at the Cannes Film Festival this year, Tiger Stripes has gone on to gain recognition in other festivals, winning the prestigious H.R. Giger “Narcisse” Award for best feature film at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (Switzerland) and also a Special Jury Mention at the Fantasia International Film Festival (Canada).

Supported by the Communication and Digital Ministry via MyCreative and FINAS, the film is sold by Films Boutique to key territories including the United Kingdom and North America.

Tiger Stripes will be released in Taiwan next month by Taiwanese distributor ProView Entertainment. The film will also have a theatrical release in Singapore and South Korea this year.

This coming-of-age horror film will have its UK premiere at the British Film Institute London Film Festival as part of the First Feature Competition. Amanda will be attending the sold-out screenings next week. The filmmaker has signed with The Gersh Agency for representation.

Tiger Stripes follows a 12-year-old girl named Zaffan who struggles with puberty, discovering that her body morphs in a terrifying way. As she is further provoked by her own community, she soon learns that embracing her true self is the only answer to her freedom.

The film stars three new talents Zafreen Zairizal, Deena Ezral and Piqa, alongside veteran local actors Shaheizy Sam, Jun Lojong and Fatimah Abu Bakar. – Oct 1, 2023
