CGS-CIMB Securities networks with China’s fund houses with AUM of RM5.3 tril

CGS-CIMB Securities International Pte Ltd and its group recently hosted a five-day business visit for five Chinese fund houses with asset under management (AUM) in excess of 8.1 tril yuan (RM5.3 tril) in its Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand offices.

The exercise took place from Oct 31 till today (Nov 4).

The Chinese fund houses which participated in the event include (i) Bosera Asset Management (International) Co; ii) CSOP Asset Management Ltd; (iii) China Universal Asset Management (Hong Kong) Co Ltd; and (iv) Fullgoal Asset Management (HK) Ltd.

Delegates from the fund houses were treated to a packed programme of meetings with local regulators namely the Singapore Exchange Ltd, Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), Bursa Malaysia and Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) to understand the investment landscape in the respective countries.

Moreover, a slew of networking opportunities with institution and corporate clients were also held in the three offices to discuss on potential collaborations.

The business visit aims to bring Chinese fund managers to invest in ASEAN and to promote connectivity between China and ASEAN countries while providing investors access to investment opportunities in various asset classes such as equities, fixed income, ETF (exchange traded fund) and other financial instruments.

This initiative is an integral part of CGS-CIMB Securities’ vision to be a leading and trusted financial services group in Asia.

“Many companies listed on Bursa Malaysia contribute to the global supply chain as well as the Belt and Road Initiative,” commented of Bursa Malaysia’s CEO Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift.

Meanwhile, CGS-CIMB Securities Malaysia’s CEO Ruzi Rani Ajith said the integrated financial service provider is honoured to host these esteemed top tiered fund managers’ maiden business visit to Malaysia and connecting them to regulators in the country, namely the SC and Bursa Malaysia for the first time.
