Chaos reigns as #Parliament trends on Twitter today

MUCH to the amusement and dismay of netizens, it didn’t take long for chaos to erupt in Parliament today as it sits for the first time this year.

Using the tag #Parliament, many had taken to social media to throw shade at the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Government for their failure to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and the country’s economy.

“What can be observed is that none of the MPs, be it Government or Opposition, have the intention to work together to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and the rakyat’s hardship. Please set aside all your agendas and focus on the current issue,” demanded one user.

“Gosh, #KerajaanGagal can’t even hold a proper #Parliament meeting,” said user Pam Kaur amid the uproar.

Netizens were equally stunned when Prime Minister Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yassin took the floor.

“Am I the only one who thinks that Muhiddin just did a presentation in a Parliament meeting? I think there is no need to read the whole PDF even during a real presentation,” commented user Maggi mande.

Bakri MP Yeo Bee Yin also lend her two cents worth, saying, “Technically it’s not a Parliament session. It’s a special message live in Parliament.”

“Sir what you are saying can be documented! Can you please focus on more pressing matters, like the issues that contract doctors are facing amid a pandemic?” said another exasperated user, @paukai_liao.

User @saakuraanaa concurs, pointing out that the rakyat did not want to hear Mahiaddin giving an explanation and that all that the Prime Minister had mentioned could have been compiled into a PDF.

“This is wasting time. We want an actual debate about the rakyat’s woes!” – July 26, 2021
