Chinese food fan Siti Kasim shall keep the Agong-PMX dining pic in her wallet as “protection amulet”

CLAIMING that she is a Chinese food connoisseur, human rights activist and lawyer Siti Kasim need not sneak in and out of deemed ‘non-halal’ eateries for much longer.

This is because she will be cutting the recent viral photos of Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar at His Majesty’s favourite ikan asam pedas restaurant in Johor Bahru as “protection amulet” to ward off – with due respect – “evil mouths”.

“We’re unsure if PMX (referring to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) was shivering or not (to oblige the Agong’s lunch invitation to dine is a so-called ‘non-halal’ Chinese eatery which for sure does not dish out pork and alcoholic beverages),” teased Siti Kasim in a recent video posted on her Facebook (FB) page.

“Anyway, it’s good to see both who are the two most powerful people in Malaysia dining in a so-called ‘non-halal’ place unlike me who have to sneak into Chinese kopitiam or non-halal Chinese restaurants because I enjoy their food.

“This is to prevent myself from being cursed by my Muslim brethren in the event my culinary adventure ever got exposed on the social media.

“But from now on, I shall keep the picture of our Agong and PMX in my wallet to counter people who question me if ever I get caught patronising a ‘non-halal eatery.”

Home Ministry taken to task

Earlier in her FB video, the Orang Asli advocate has slammed the Home Ministry for shielding, hence making controversial convert Muslim preachers Firdaus Wong Wai Hung and Zamri Vinoth Kalimuthu invincible.

This follows a statement by Deputy Unity Minister Saraswathy Kandasami in the Dewan Rakyat that the need for a Religious Harmony Act to curtail the blatant act of hurting one’s religious feelings does not arise given there are already ample law under the Home Ministry to charge people with hurting religious feelings.

This includes, among others, sections of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.

“If such is the case, can you (Saraswathy) kindly talk to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail who is your gang member why no action has been taken against Firdaus Wong and Zamri Vinoth,” fumed Siti Kasim.

“It’s clear that thousands of police reports have been lodged and video evidence to show how the duo has been rude (kurang ajar) towards other faiths to the extent of hurting their followers yet no action has been taken against them.”

“If supposedly non-Muslims have acted in similar fashion towards Islam because of their frustrations with what is happening in Malaysia, within 24 hours cops will surely act even in middle of the night.

“Even sharing an article (critical about Islam) which is available online can land someone in hot soup but when someone who call himself ustaz badmouths other religion/s, no action whatsoever will be taken against them.

“Are they being protected by someone? How is protecting them? I thought everybody is equal in Malaysia but why are these ustaz who dare claim that they are heirs of the prophet (pewaris Nabi) given exemption?

“So Saraswathy please tell your friend to take action against these people … there are so many others who belittle non-Muslim faiths.”

Recall that on Aug 2, the Kuala Lumpur High Court has ruled that Zamri Vinoth must pay Siti Kasim and lawyer Arun Dorasamy RM100,000 each in damages for having defamed them by accusing them of being “anti-Islam”.

More recently, Global Human Rights Federation (GHRF) president S. Shashi Kumar has slammed the Court of Appeal’s decision to defer its ruling on Firdaus and Zamri Vinoth who had allegedly insulted the faith and religious practices of non-Muslims for a third time. – Dec 14, 2024
