NOT all R&R stops are for animals as a man finds out in a recent incident. In a video, a plucky Chinese man wearing sunglasses gained quite the fame on the internet for confronting another Chinese who brought a dog into the halal dining area at the southbound Simpang Pulai R&R stop.
His action has since been circulated countless times over the cyberspace and Malaysians applauded what they described as a firm yet respectful approach.
In the video, the man can be heard saying that the food court was a halal zone and urged the dog owner to leave out of respect for Muslim diners.
LELAKI CINA BAWAK ANJING DI TEMPAT HALAL RNR, DITEGUR LELAKI CINA LAIN 😡🖕
Bukan setakat anjing je tak boleh, kucing pun tak boleh. Sebab it’s a food and beverage area. Boleh contaminated.
Kan ada sign kata no pets allowed selalu.

“This is a halal area. You cannot bring a dog here or consume non-halal food. Please leave. Don’t shake your head. Please be considerate. You are disturbing Muslims who are having their meal. Please respect them,” he said.
To make matters worse, the man being reprimanded was eating pork there too.
“I am Chinese too, and I also like dogs. You’re a Malaysian, aren’t you? So you should know that dogs are not allowed in a halal area. I’m not trying to interfere in other people’s affairs, but you need to show respect,” he added.
In a separate post by news media The Reporter, netizens could be seen in the comment section offering their thoughts on the topic.
Byon Ooi jokingly said that the man, who happened to be bald, looked like Vin Diesel.

Another user, Faizal Zell J added, “Not all heroes have hair,” That funny remark quickly gained traction among other commenters.
Mohd Zuhairi further described the man as the “real truly Malaysian Chinese guy.” Perhaps this is the highest honour one can confer to a fellow Malaysian for standing up for mutual respect and religious sensitivities.
Netizen Angellee LeeTan also thanked the man for speaking up, suggesting that people are often more receptive when corrected by someone from their own ethnic background.
However, she also urged Malaysians to consider the challenges faced by pet owners travelling alone.

Another commenter argued that pets should generally be kept away from dining establishments unless the premises are explicitly designated as pet-friendly.
Away from the drama, this incident also teaches a valuable lesson that resonates across a political landscape dominated by race and religion.
If our Chinese Vin Diesel can champion unity in an R&R eatery away from the spotlight, then our highly paid politicians can learn to do better.—July 5, 2026
