HAVING been embroiled in anything from boardroom tussle to internal legal disputes to graft probe by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Caely Holdings Bhd is on a serious mission to instill law and order within the company.
Yesterday (Sept 27), the Perak-based lingerie manufacturer welcomed two more ex-police officers who boast more than 40 years of experience – and with legal knowledge – to its board as independent non-executive directors (INEDs).
According to the company’s Bursa Malaysia filing, Chong Seng Ming, 61, who started his stint with the police force in 1982 had served in various divisions such as Criminal Investigating Department (CID) as an investigating officer, Organised Crime branch, Anti Gangsterism/Vice/Gambling branch and the Federal Reserve Unit (anti-riot unit).
Majoring in criminal law since 2010, Chong mostly attends court cases and providing consultations to clients with regard to police and/or other government enforcement agencies matters.
Meanwhile Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, 60, has commendable working knowledge in criminal investigation and prosecution, supply chain in crimes and criminal justice system, including niche areas of criminology.
That the Bachelor of Laws holder from the Islamic International University (UIA) has the exposures to managing the federal (Bukit Aman), state (Perak) and several police districts will be advantageous in terms of contemporary man management and commercial operations, according to his work experience profile made available on Bursa Malaysia.
With Chong and Mior Faridalathrash’s presence, Caely now has four ex-police officers with vital influence on its boards after taking into account two earlier appointments and the promotion of one of the duo – namely, Ng Keok Chai from executive director (appointed on June 15) to executive chairman with effect from Aug 29.

Throughout his 36 years’ of service in Royal Malaysia Police, he was very much involved in police investigation due to his legal background. Ng, 63, specialises in criminal investigation across various fields which include commercial crime, general crime and forensic accounting with ample management and special operations experience.
Completing the foursome ex-cop parade in Caely is retired Deputy Commissioner of Police Datuk Kang Chez Chiang, 64 who was appointed as INED with effect from June 15.
Kang who served the police force for 39 years and six months had previous exposures as Head of Intelligence Section, Head of Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) at the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent, Principal Assistant Director (Intelligence and Operations) and Deputy Director (Intelligence and Operations).
At the close of yesterday’s (Sept 27) trading, Caely was down 0.5 sen or 1.72% to 28.5 sen with 2,500 shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM74 mil. – Sept 28, 2022
