Continued buying in heavyweights lifts Bursa Malaysia to end at intraday high

CONTINUED buying momentum in selected heavyweights have pushed Bursa Malaysia to close at its intraday high today, marking its fourth consecutive session of strong performance, an analyst said.

At 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 8.57 points, or 0.56%, to 1,541.53 from Monday’s close of 1,532.96.

The benchmark index opened 1.03 points higher at 1,533.99 and subsequently hit its lowest level of 1,532.29 in early trade.

The broader market was broadly positive with 565 gainers outpacing 389 decliners, while 464 counters were unchanged, 956 untraded and 14 suspended.

Turnover slipped to 2.05 billion units worth RM2.15 bil against 3.57 billion units worth RM2.68 bil on Monday. – July 1, 2025
