SO the unity government has been asked to clarify on the statement of Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail who recently stated the grand effort of Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim “to remove the Palestinians from Gaza”.
When asking additional questions during the PM’s Question Time session, PAS Pasir Mas MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (main pic) questioned the viability of such a plan when it is not even in line with the aspirations of the Palestinians themselves.
“I asked the PM to explain again because this is contained in the hansard and uploaded on social media.
“(It came) from the minister (Saifuddin) who is also the secretary-general of Yang Amat Berhormat‘s own party. I am sure that there is an explanation. Is it true that the PM’s focus now is to negotiate to remove the people of Gaza from their homeland which is not in tandem with the aspirations of the Palestinians themselves?”
After stating that he was raised and recognised as” a child” of former Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) chairman Yasser Arafat (1969-2004), below are the answers from the PM’s own mouth (as per a Facebook statement by National PAS Information Department):
- “This is about getting out of harm’s way, not moving out”
- They do not agree to leave yet the western media reported that no Muslim countries want to accept the people of Gaza.
- The Egyptian president emphasised that Egyptians would help the people of Gaza who want to leave.
- If the people of Gaza leave (their homeland), this will provide an easy passage for Israel to enter Gaza.
- Agree with Arab countries not to provide Palestinians in Gaza an easy way out.
- What we wish to control is to put a stop to the on-going danger to civilian lives in Gaza.
“This is exactly 15 days from the date of the answer given by the Home Minister so the YB Pasir Mas probed the matter further with the PM himself about the issue of moving the Palestinians out of Gaza,” noted the National PAS Information Department.
“Try to assess for yourself whether the PM’s statement contradicts, supports or denies what the Home Minister has said in his answer (to Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal on Oct 24).” – Nov 8, 2023
