KUALA LUMPUR: Local face mask manufacturers will increase their production to meet the surge in demand following the 2019 novel coronavirus issue.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said he had held discussions with the manufacturers on the matter.
“Right now the demand is high and the current supply is unable to meet the demand. (I am informed) that supplies have dropped as many factories are closed due to the Chinese New Year holidays.
“We have already informed the manufacturers and they are going to increase the production,” he told reporters after launching the ‘Buy Malaysian Products’ campaign at a supermarket here today. – Jan 30, 2020, Bernama
