“Corrupt UMNO loves embezzlers”: Netizens ridicule Nur Jazlan’s defence of Najib

WITH UMNO refusing to “let go” of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak despite his graft conviction, netizens took to Twitter to mock the nationalist party.

User Mr Wan Md. Bee said:

(UMNO and bandits are one and the same)

User Tony Chew added:

(They want influence to continue plundering the nation…!!! A national embarrassment!)

Netizen The Mascara Snake lamented by saying:

On Dec 8, the Court of Appeal upheld the conviction as well as 12-year jail term and RM210 mil fine against Najib on the SRC International Sdn Bhd corruption case, involving RM42 mil.

A three-person bench chaired by Justice Datuk Abdul Karim Abdul Jalil unanimously dismissed the former prime minister’s appeal to reverse the guilty verdict and sentencing over seven charges of abuse of power, criminal breach of trust and money laundering.

“We dismiss the appeal on all seven charges and affirm the conviction,” Abdul Karim ruled.

The trio also admonished Najib’s defence team for arguing that Najib had “national interest” in heart, calling it a “national embarrassment” instead.

The “national embarrassment” statement by the judges went viral on social media, alluding it to Najib and his supporters.

Despite the decision, Johor UMNO deputy chief Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said that his division will continue to support Najib as he was popular among the masses.

“Although he cannot contest in the next general election, I hope Najib will continue helping UMNO’s efforts to win the polls.

“The Pekan MP still enjoys widespread support among the people. Najib is an asset and I hope he will continue to assist UMNO,” Berita Harian reported the former minister as saying.

Amused by Nur Jazlan’s remarks, user Jukai Kontan said this is what happens when senior citizens get deluded and still cling on to power despite nearing their last days on Earth.

On that note, user Abah remarked: “Stealing from public coffers? No biggie…just UMNO things.” – Dec 12, 2021.
