Court had returned RM144 mil in cash and assets to Najib, Umno in June

ASSETS worth RM114 mil seized from Pavillion Residences on May 17, 2018, has been returned to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Umno.

According to Astro Awani, the matter was confirmed by deputy public prosecutor Faten Hadni Khairuddin, adding the assets were returned on June 17.

This came after the prosecution team decided to not file an appeal in the forfeiture suit, after it was dismissed by High Court judge Datuk Muhammad Jamil Hussin.

“The assets have been returned to Najib, through his representative, because the prosecution decided against filing an appeal,” Faten noted.

In May, Jamil dismissed an application by the prosecution team to strip rights of the assets seized by the police in 2018, saying they had failed to prove the RM114.16 mil retrieved was linked to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) case.

He also said that the prosecution failed to prove the assets were procured via money laundering activities.
