COVID-19: 1,155 new cases as of Monday morning, 5 deaths

THE number of new COVID-19 cases continues its decreasing momentum, standing at 1,155 on Saturday morning with three of them being imported cases, bringing the country’s total number of cases to 4,503,734 since the pandemic began.

The number of COVID-19 deaths is also still low with five casualties reported within the last 24 hours, one of which was brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 35,665.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 1,975 patients have recovered since yesterday, bringing the number to a total of 4,443,676 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak started in Malaysia.

However, the number of hospital beds being used around the country has reached up to 62.2%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) at 58.9% capacity.

Currently, 34 people are being treated in ICUs, with a little over half of them (18) in need of ventilator support.

Meanwhile, the total number of reported active cases in the country stands at 24,393, with 95.9% of them (23,403) being subjected to home quarantine. – May 30, 2022
