COVID-19: 12,434 fresh cases, 978 patients in ICU

MALAYSIA has logged 12,434 new COVID-19 infections on Wednesday (Sept 29), with the cumulative total number of infections now at 2,232,960.

In a tweet, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 17,000 patients have recovered, with the total discharge now standing at 2,037,099.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, there were 208 deaths, bringing the death tally to 26,143.

Sarawak recorded the highest number of cases at 2,967, and this is followed by Selangor (1,362) and Johor (1,289).

“Of the current active cases, 978 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 565 of them in need of ventilator support,” Noor Hisham remarked. – Sept 30, 2021
