COVID-19: 1,503 new cases, 3 deaths recorded

THE Health Ministry has reported 1,503 new daily COVID-19 cases yesterday (May 1), which brings the cumulative number of cases to 4,449,507.

Of the 1,503, six are imported cases while 1,497 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 5,839 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,372,790.

Another three deaths attributed to COVID-19 were reported yesterday, with one brought in dead cases.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,550 deaths have been attributed to COVID-19.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 5,839 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 41,167.

Of the active cases, 97.2% or 39,995 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 29 people, or 0.1% of the active infections are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 2.5% of active cases or 1,074 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 69 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 45 require ventilator support. – May 2, 2022
