COVID-19: 1,817 new cases as of Monday morning, 3 deaths

THE number of new COVID-19 cases is back below the 2,000 mark, standing at 1,817 on Monday morning, bringing the country’s total number of cases to 4,491,320 since the pandemic began.

The number of COVID-19 deaths is still low with only three casualties reported within the last 24 hours, one of which was brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 35,643.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 3,389 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the number to a total of 4,429,166 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak started.

However, the number of hospital beds being used around the country is still high up to 61.4%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) at 60.3% capacity.

Currently, 40 people are being treated in ICUs, with a little over half of them (23) in need of ventilator support.

Meanwhile, the total number of reported active cases in the country continues to be at a decline, standing at 26,511, with 95.7% of them (25,366) being subjected to home quarantine. – May 23, 2022
