THE number of new COVID-19 cases seem to be inching closer toward the 2,000 mark, standing at 1,844 on Saturday morning with three of them being imported cases, bringing the country’s total number of cases to 4,512,040 since the pandemic began.
There was also only one COVID-19 death reported within the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 35,681.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 2,005 patients have recovered since yesterday, bringing the number to a total of 4,453,313 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak started in Malaysia.
However, the number of hospital beds being used around the country has reached up to 65.5%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) at 55.9% capacity.
Currently, 27 people are being treated in ICUs, with a little over half of them (17) in need of ventilator support.
Meanwhile, the total number of reported active cases in the country stands at 23,046, with 95.6% of them (22,033) being subjected to home quarantine. – June 4, 2022
