THE number of new COVID-19 cases is still below the 2,000 mark, standing at 1,881 on Saturday morning, bringing the country’s total number of cases to 4,500,934 since the pandemic began.
The number of COVID-19 deaths is still low with only two casualties reported within the last 24 hours, one of which was brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 35,658.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 1,680 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the number to a total of 4,439,892 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak started.
However, the number of hospital beds being used around the country increased up to 71.1%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) at 60.7% capacity.
Currently, 30 people are being treated in ICUs, with a little over half of them (18) in need of ventilator support.
Meanwhile, the total number of reported active cases in the country stands at 25,384, with 95.5% of them (24,234) being subjected to home quarantine. – May 28, 2022
