COVID-19: 2063 new cases as of Saturday morning, 5 deaths

THE number of new COVID-19 cases stands at 2,063 on Saturday morning, bringing the country’s total number of cases to 4,487,482 since the pandemic began.

The number of COVID-19 deaths is still low with only five casualties reported within the last 24 hours, none of which were brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 35,638.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 2,618 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the number to a total of 4,422,615 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak started.

However, the number of hospital beds being used around the country increased to 63.3%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) at 58.4% capacity.

Currently, 36 people are being treated in ICUs, with a majority of them (20) in need of ventilator support.

Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country is also at a decline, standing at 29,229, with 96% of them (28,050) being subjected to home quarantine. – May 21, 2022
