COVID-19: 2,124 new cases, 3 deaths recorded

THE Health Ministry has reported 2,124 new daily COVID-19 cases yesterday (May 19), which brings the cumulative number of cases to 4,485,419.

Of the 2,124, one is an imported case while 2,123 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 2,303 recoveries on Thursday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,419,997.

Another three deaths attributed to COVID-19 were reported yesterday, with two brought in dead cases.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,633 deaths have been attributed to COVID-19.

Of the current active cases, 95.9% or 28,569 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 20 people, or 0.1% of the active infections are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 3.9% of active cases or 1,165 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 35 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 22 require ventilator support. – May 20, 2022
