MALAYSIA has logged 4,922 new COVID-19 cases on Friday (Nov 5), a decrease from the previous day’s 5,713 cases.
This brings the cumulative number of infections to 2,497,265.
In a statement, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham said that of the new COVID-19 cases, 4,842 (98.4%) were mild and asymptomatic infections in Categories one and two, while 80 (1.6%) were from Categories three, four and five.
Category three refers to patients with pneumonia, Category four needs oxygen assistance and Category five requires respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, according to the CovidNow website, 5,579 patients have recovered, bringing the total to 2,401,823.
There were 47 deaths, thus bringing the death tally to 29,202.
Of the current cases, 549 cases required treatment in intensive care units (ICU) and 282 cases needed respiratory assistance. – Nov 6, 2021
