COVID-19: 5,071 fresh cases, 557 patients admitted in ICUs

MALAYSIA has logged 5,071 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday (Nov 2), which brings the cumulative number of infections to 2,481,339.

In a statement, Dr Noor Hisham said that of the new COVID-19 cases, 121 (2.4%) are in Categories three, four and five.

Category three refers to patients with pneumonia, Category four needs oxygen assistance and Category five requires respiratory assistance.

The remaining 4,950 cases (97.6%) were in Categories one and two.

Meanwhile, according to the CovidNow website, 5,372 patients have recovered, bringing the total to 2,385,432.

There were 70 deaths, thus bringing the death tally to 29,045.

Of the current cases, 557 cases required treatment in intensive care units (ICU) and 300 cases needed respiratory assistance. – Nov 3, 2021
