COVID-19: 6,145 fresh cases, lowest since July 4

MALAYSIA has logged 6,145 new COVID-19 infections on Sunday (Oct 17), which is the lowest since July 4, 2021.

This brings the cumulative number of infections to 2,390,687.

A total of 142 cases (2.3%) were in category three, four and five, while 6,003 cases (97.7%) consisted of those in category one and two.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 9,231 patients have recovered, with the total discharge now standing at 2,270,520.

There were 63 deaths recorded, bringing the death tally to 27,921.

Of the current cases, 688 cases required treatment in intensive care units and 348 cases needed respiratory assistance. – Oct 18, 2021.
