COVID-19: 616 active clusters, new cases above 2k mark

THE Health Ministry has reported 2,985 COVID-19 cases and four deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a statement today, Health Ministry’s director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said that there were 994 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 111,578.

“For now, the total number of infections stands at 144,518. Unfortunately, four people have lost their lives to the virus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 563,” he said.

Those who perished were four men and three women, aged between 19 and 77. Two of them were Malaysians and rest are foreigners. All of them suffered from pre-existing conditions.

On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that 11 new clusters have been discovered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of active clusters to 616.

The eleven clusters are Taman Integrasi (Selangor), Jalan Ijuk (Selangor), Jalan Rami (Johor), Tanjung Megah (Johor) and Jalan Kasturi (Kuala Lumpur) among others.

“I wish to announce that two clusters – Tapak Bina Condong and Seri Tasik – have ended,” he added. – Jan 13, 2021
