COVID-19: 6,709 new cases – lowest in over three months

MALAYSIA has logged 6,709 new COVID-19 infections on Monday (Oct 11), with the cumulative total number of infections now at 2,346,303.

Only 144 or 2.1% of the new cases were serious, involving those in Categories 3 (patients with pneumonia), 4 (patients with pneumonia requiring oxygen therapy) and 5 (critical patients requiring assisted ventilation), the Health Ministry said.

The remaining 6,565 cases or 97.9% involved people who showed no symptoms or mild symptoms (Categories 1 and 2).

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 10,833 patients have recovered, with the total discharge now standing at 2,206,502.

There were 93 deaths recorded, bringing the death tally to 27,422.

Of the current cases, 756 cases required treatment in intensive care units and 397 cases needed respiratory assistance. – Oct 11, 2021.
