COVID-19: 972 new cases, eight deaths

THE Health Ministry today reported 972 new COVID-19 cases and eight deaths as of 12pm today.

In a press conference today, the ministry’s director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that 1,345 patients have recovered from the coronavirus as well.

“Therefore, the total cases of COVID-19 in the country is at 41,181. The total recovery cases now stand at 29,579.

“With eight deaths recorded today, the total number of those who have lost their lives to COVID-19 is now at 294,” he added.

On related matter, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) imposed on several localities in Selangor, Sabah, Sarawak and Negeri Sembilan will be extended for another two weeks.

The areas affected include Taman Khazanah Indah and Mutiara Kasih public housing schemes in Lahad Datu, Sabah; Plaza Hentian Kajang in Selangor; Kampung Haji Baki in Kuching, Sarawak; and two localities in Putra Point in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.

“Kampung Sabah Baru in Lahad Datu, Sabah will undergo EMCO from tomorrow until Nov 23 due to rising COVID-19 cases,” he said.
