COVID-19: A staggering 10 clusters ended, new cases hover around 1k

THE Health Ministry announced 1,671 new COVID-19 infections and four deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that there were 1,585 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 316,042.

“We have a total number of 331,713 infection cases as of now. Unfortunately, four people have lost their lives to the coronavirus, bringing the total death toll to 1,229,” he added.

All who died were locals.

As usual, Selangor detected the highest number of infections today at 652, followed by Penang (328) and Sarawak (154).

On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected only four new clusters in the country.

Two of them are workplace related and the rest are community-based infections.

“With that, we have 421 active clusters. Ten clusters have ended today. Three clusters that contributed to the high number of cases today are DTI Juru (206), Persiaran Freesia construction site (134) and Pekan Nanas Industrial Area (39),” he remarked. – March 20, 2021.
