COVID-19: A whopping 19 clusters ended today, recoveries outpace new cases

THE Health Ministry announced 1,280 new COVID-19 infections and nine deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that there were 2,345 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 296,379.

“We have a total number of 316,269 infection cases as of now. Unfortunately, nine people have lost their lives to the coronavirus, bringing the total death toll to 1,186,” he added.

Eight who died were locals and the other was a foreigner.

Selangor detected the highest number of infections today at 464, followed by Johor (165) and Sarawak (163).

On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected nine new clusters in the country.

Six of them are workplace related, two community based and the other involves high-risk groups.

“We have 457 active clusters, with 19 clusters ended today. The three clusters that contributed to the high number of cases today are Perusahaan 10 (36), Jalan U-Thant (35) and Jalan Nusa Mega (33),” he remarked. – March 9, 2021.
