COVID-19: Cases climbing again, 195 fatalities

THE Health Ministry (MOH) has reported 17,105 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 1,163,291.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported that 12,297 patients have recovered from the infection, with the total discharged now stands at 950,029.

Currently, there are 203,664 active cases, in which 1,066 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 537 of them in need of ventilator support.

Dr Noor Hisham also announced that 195 people have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 9,598.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases (5,836), followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,309), Johor (1,275) and Kedah (1,036). – Aug 3, 2021
