COVID-19 cases continue to climb, standing at 22,948 on Thursday

THE number of new COVID-19 cases are still extremely high today, standing at 22,948 on Thursday, even more than yesterday’s 22,242 cases.

Selangor continues to be the highest contributing state with 7,175 cases, a significant difference from the runner up of Sabah’s 2,583 and Kedah’s 2,137.

The number of deaths is also still high at 178, totalling to 13,480 in Malaysia.

However, the number of COVID-19 patients that were discharged within the last 24 hours reached 21,720, which is a new daily record. The number of those discharged have now reached 1,220,446 in total.

Within the current 255,534 active COVID-19 cases throughout the country now, 1,060 of the patients are in intensive care units (ICUs) and more than half of them (528) are in need of ventilator support. – Aug 19, 2021
