COVID-19: Cases continue to witness downtrend, Selangor still highest

MALAYSIA has logged 13,754 new COVID-19 infections on Thursday (Sept 23), with the cumulative total number of infections now at 2,156,678.

In a tweet, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 16,628 patients have recovered, with the total discharge now standing at 1,933,713.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, there were 116 deaths, bringing the death tally to 24,681.

Selangor recorded the highest daily figure with 1,985 new cases, followed by Johor (1,913), Sarawak (1,766), Sabah (1,629) and Kelantan (1,264).

“Of the current active cases, 1,117 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 615 of them in need of ventilator support,” Noor Hisham remarked. – Sept 24, 2021
