COVID-19: Cases on downtrend, deaths increasing to 278

MALAYSIA continues to record a downtrend in the number of COVID-19 infections on Wednesday (Sept 1) with 18,762 new cases, thus bringing the cumulative total to 1,765,016.

In a tweet, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 21,073 patients have been cured, with the total discharge now standing at 1,482,800.

There were 278 deaths today, bringing the death tally to 16,942.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases at 3,711, followed by Sabah (2,430), Sarawak (2,414) and Johor (1,993).

“Of the current active cases, 1,007 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 464 of them in need of ventilator support,” Noor Hisham remarked. – Sept 1, 2021.
