COVID-19: Cases on the rise again, 3k in Sabah for second day in a row

MALAYSIA recorded 22,642 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (Aug 25), bringing the cumulative total to 1,616,244.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported that 20,798 patients have recovered from the infection, with the total discharged now stands at 1,337,134.

Currently, there are 264,292 active cases, in which 1,003 patients are still receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 490 of them in need of ventilator support.

Dr Noor Hisham also announced that 265 people have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 14,818.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases (6,325), followed by Sabah (3,224) and Kedah (2,279). – Aug 25, 2021
