COVID-19: Cases on the rise again with 6,013 recoveries

MALAYSIA has recorded 5,413 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday (Nov 16), which brings the cumulative infections in the country to 2,556,865.

In a statement, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham said that of the new COVID-19 cases, 5,311 (98.1%) were mild and asymptomatic infections in Categories one and two, while the remaining 102 (1.9%) were from Categories three, four and five.

Categories one and two refer to patients with mild symptoms or none at all, category three refers to patients with pneumonia, while patients in categories four and five require oxygen and need ventilators, respectively.

Meanwhile, according to the CovidNow website, 6,013 patients have recovered, bringing the total to 2,461,780.

There were 40 deaths, thus bringing the death tally to 29,769.

Of the current cases, 545 cases required treatment in intensive care units (ICU) and 264 cases needed respiratory assistance. – Nov 17, 2021
