COVID-19: Daily cases hit another all-time high, 257 deaths

MALAYSIA today reported a new all-time high for the most COVID-19 daily infections in the past 24 hours with 19,819 cases, bringing the cumulative total to 1,183,110.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported that 12,704 patients have recovered from the infection, with the total discharged now stands at 962,733.

Currently, there are 210,522 active cases, in which 1,069 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 553 of them in need of ventilator support.

Dr Noor Hisham also announced that 257 people have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours – yet another record, thus bringing the total number of fatalities to 9,855.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases (8,377), followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,467), Kedah (1,371) and Johor (1,162). – Aug 4, 2021
