COVID-19: Daily infections drop to 4k, death toll and new clusters at two-digits

THE Health Ministry announced 4,214 new COVID-19 infections and 10 deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that there were 4,280 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 170,329.

“We have a total number of 219,173 infection cases as of now. Unfortunately, 10 people have lost their lives to the coronavirus, bringing the total death toll to 770,” he added.

All those who died were locals.

Selangor still recorded the highest number of infections with 1,362, followed by Johor (1,068) and Kuala Lumpur (702).

On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has found a staggering 14 new clusters in the country.

Out of the 14, nine are work placed related, three involved high-risk groups and two were community based.

“With that, we have 401 active clusters. Five clusters have ended today; which are Tembok, GK Tawau, Sentosa Residensi, Menara Wang and Maringkan,” he added. – Feb 1, 2021.
